Fertility and Reproductive Challenges
Fertility challenges are common. A little over ten out of hundred women experience difficulty conceiving and remaining pregnant. Making the decision to continue on your journey to parenthood can be challenging given the many stressors that come along with trying to conceive again. Postpartum
For many, new and those with more than one child, having to balance life can be hard to do. Depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsions and more can creep in and alter the normalcy of your everyday life. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders can appear up to a year after delivery, some have even experienced it two years later. Southeast Perinatal Counseling is able to process the feelings and thoughts during this postpartum period whether you aren’t connecting like you think you should with your infant, you’re constantly worried, crying often, experiencing overwhelming fatigue, confused about the level of stress compared to what is actually happening in your life, or you’re lacking support. There’s so many others that weren’t mentioned that you may be feeling and that’s okay, we can think through it together.
Many believe that the feelings and thoughts experienced during this period only interfere with the mother, but that isn’t true. We encourage dad’s to come in as well and work through the struggles that come along with parenting.
Grief & Bereavement
Losing anyone in your life can present intense feelings and thoughts that are difficult to manage. We also recognize that the loss of a baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, elective termination, childbirth, after a NICU stay, or soon after can be equally traumatic. The memories not yet made or too few than one had hoped for can lead to deep indescribable feelings. The space held for those grieving and in the bereavement process will be safe, warm, and compassionate. The care given to you is for the sharing and the welcoming of as many coping tools to work through this loss as one may need. Families are welcome as we all know how loss can change the dynamics of everyone involved.
Infant Hospitalizations & Diagnosis
Having a support network of family, friends, and colleagues are all great resources in times of need. But what do you do when it’s difficult to process your newborn or infant being admitted to the NICU, children’s hospital, or recently diagnosed?
